The United States will finally get its first real climate change payment in the coming months, according to Axios.
The agency will start paying countries like China, Japan and the United Kingdom this spring, Axios reported.
China and Japan will get their first payments in early March, and the U, UK, Canada and Australia will receive their first climate change grants later this month.
Axios said the first payments will help the Trump administration understand the full impact of climate change.
Axio said the Trump White House and Treasury Department have been meeting regularly to talk about climate change policy.
Axiom’s Sarah Kliff reported the payments will be made through the Climate Finance Partnership program.
The program was launched in September to help nations make climate change mitigation payments and was intended to help finance mitigation projects and aid the countries that need it most, Kliff said.
