In a nutshell, there are two ways to hide webcam cover: via a “prevent camera” setting, and via a custom “preview” feature.
The latter is a built-in feature that automatically opens the camera’s settings and opens the webcam cover in the “previous” tab of the camera settings.
This feature has been around for some time, and is available in Android 5.1.1 through Android 6.0.1, though it hasn’t been updated to include the latest version of Android 6, which is expected to come out sometime in the middle of this month.
The only real downside to using this feature is that it’s not yet a fully functional solution.
Google has been working on a solution to this issue for quite some time now, but its been a slow process.
So if you’ve been having trouble hiding your webcam covers, it may not be long until you see a new feature in the upcoming update to Android 6 that will fix your issue.
There’s also a new webcam cover viewer on the Play Store called “Viewer,” which has a similar feature to the “View” feature on the Camera app.
It’s also possible to use a custom webcam cover to hide the webcam from the camera, which makes the solution even easier.
Here’s how to hide or preview your webcam, if you haven’t done so already.1) Open the Camera Settings app by tapping on the microphone icon on the top right corner of the screen.
This will open the Camera settings menu.2) Select “Show webcam cover.”3) You’ll be prompted to select the webcam’s cover, which will appear in the preview window.
The preview window will be available only if you tap the preview button at the top of the Camera tab.4) To show your webcam as a preview, just tap the “Preview” button next to your webcam’s name.5) The preview will show the camera cover’s preview window, which can be opened with the right-click menu in the Camera section of the Settings app.6) To hide your camera cover, just double-tap the preview icon next to the webcam and select “Hide.”
This is a handy feature, but you’ll probably want to use the “Preview” option to ensure that your webcam is always visible to you.
The “Previews” tab in the camera section will appear only if your camera has a preview button.
When you tap it, a “Preview Mode” option will appear on your screen, allowing you to select whether or not to preview the camera.
This option will automatically close the preview screen when the preview mode is turned off.7) To preview the webcam, just drag and drop the preview image onto the preview tab.8) You should now see a “PreVIEW” icon appear next to any image you drag on to the preview.
You can drag any image up to 100 pixels wide to resize the preview to fit your needs.9) You can now remove the preview by clicking on the preview and selecting “Remove Preview.”
You’ll now be presented with a “Remove preview” button in the lower-right corner of your camera’s preview.10) To close the “Remove” button, simply tap on the “Close preview” option on the toolbar in the top-right of the preview pane.11) Now you should be able to see your webcam in the background, with the preview being hidden.
If you’re using the Google Camera app, you’ll notice that the preview can be seen through the “Show camera cover” button on the bottom-right side of the app.
This is an easy workaround for any issues you may be having with hiding your camera covers.
Just use the preview feature, and you should see your camera covered by the cover.
